In 8th WKD, Shanghai Society of Nephrology held a free health consultant for the public on the theme of “Better kidney, better life: Care for Acute Kidney Injury” in the Shanghai. The center conference was celebrated in the Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Center and 8 branch conferences were hold in the suburbs meanwhile, Professor Xiaoqiang Ding, president of Shanghai Society of Nephrology, emphasized the underestimate and neglect in AKI compared with the CKD. Aiming at saving more AKI patients and promoting the AKI management in clinical practice and scientific researches, the project of “Shanghai Acute Kidney Injury Network”, which was proposed by Prof. Xiaoqiang Ding, officially started up at the 8th WKD. And Prof. Ding also announced a recommendations to Shanghai citizens for guarding against kidney disease in public. In order to increase the attention on the kidney disease, especially the AKI, experts gave voluntary lectures on early prevention of AKI, standard treatments and roles of drugs in AKI, respectively. There were more than 2,000 citizens coming all the way for this voluntary activity. After the lectures, 150 experts from over 50 hospitals gave volunteer medical consultation, and thousands of booklets with information of CKD and AKI were available.
