Activity description:
1. At least 140 patients with diabetes mellitus and/or hypertension and/or chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 1-5 (non-kidney replacement therapy; KRT) (that are high risk groups for CKD and KRT) are invited for World Kidney Day 2024 Activity at Pranangklao Hospital, Tertiary Hospital in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand.
2. All patients that register for attendance this event, are recorded about health information (blood pressure, weight & height for calculation of body mass index (BMI), waist circumference for detection of abdominal obesity, urinary albumin, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and fasting plasma glucose (FPG)).
3. On the date of activitiy, all patients will join and rotate 8 educational stations as shown below.
3.1 Meet Physicians & Nephrologists. (Diagnosis for DM, HT, abdominal obesity, underweight, normal, overweight, obesity, and renal function) all measure waist circumference for detection of abdominal obesity).
3.2 Meet Nutritionists. (Reduce salt, reduce disease, low salt diet, diabetic diet)
3.3 Meet Pharmacists. (Nephrotoxic drugs e.g., NSAIDS, contrast media)
3.4 Meet Thai Traditional Medicine Physicians and teams (herbal medicine)
3.5 Meet Physical therapists (recommend exercise suitable for each stage of CKD patients)
3.6 Peritoneal dialysis; Choice of KRT (manual and automated peritoneal dialysis)
3.7 Hemodialysis; Choice of KRT
3.8 Miscellaneous (nutritional supplementation for CKD, phosphate & kidney, anemia & kidney).
4. Attendants will participate and listen KRT activity by interviewing the patients with end stage kidney disease with 3 different modalities or KRT (Hemodialysis; HD, continuous peritoneal dialysis; CAPD, and kidney transplantation; KT)
5. Participants will attend ShowYourKidneys challenge by using their fists to indicate the location of their kidneys.
6. Attendees can enjoy WKD Quiz competition for numerous impressive souvenirs.
