Adolescents in Ikeja senior secondary school at Ikeja GRA lagos were screened for risk factors for chronic kidney disease on 14th March 2024.
The screening started around 8am with health talk on sign and symptoms of kidney disease and the possible causes, risk factors and lifestyle that propagates this condition.
Screening entails history, looking out for symptoms and risk factors for CKD, biophysical profile , blood glucose check, urinalysis and serum creatinine.
Screening ended at 1pm with a total of about 150 participants screened.
Screening was made possible with the support of doctors and nurses at the nephrology unit in LASUTH and other General hospitals in Lagos state together with pharmaceutical reps and biomedical organisations that supported with funds, free drugs and refreshment. Some also supported with dialyzers and tubings so as to reduce cost of dialysis for our ESKD patients .
