The Renal Unit of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) in conjunction with the Nigerian Association of Nephrology and ISN traditionally celebrates the day with activities including lectures, outreaches, and screening programs for kidney disease risk factors. In line with the theme of this year’s celebration, we plan to especially reach out to everyone through kidney-related health talks with question and answer sessions, screening participants for kidney disease risk factors, distribution of free drugs (targeting drugs that prevent/halt kidney disease development and progression including antihypertensives, antidiabetics, erythropoiesis-stimulating agents and phosphate binders) as well as the creation of access for hemodialysis and free dialysis sessions for indigent patients.
