World Kidney Day Celebration World Kidney Day (WKD) is an annual global awareness and education event, held on the second Thursday in March. Every year, countless local, national and international events are organized by kidney charities, healthcare professionals, patient groups and individuals who want to make a difference. The 2017 theme is ‘Kidney Disease and Obesity’. The Nepal initiative is led by Aarogya Foundation, a charitable organization promoting awareness on organ failure and offering affordable health care and support support to those in need of state-of-the-art kidney dialysis and organ matching/transplant facilities. This year a rally will be held by current and past patients, doctors and nurses and students from various schools and colleges starting at 8:00 am from Basantapur Durbar Square in Kathmandu and ending at Tundikhel at 8:30 am. This will be followed by an address by the Honorable Minister for Health, Mr. Gagan Thapa.
