general public are invited to attend an awareness programme in VGSC clinic. free testing of kidney function as urine routine, serum urea and creatinine is offered. posters on kidney functions, its risk factors, preventive steps, options for patients with kidney failure and their benefits are prepared and the patient support group of VGSC will display, explain and answer questions to the public visiting. a template with their information on their BP , BMI, urine test result and serum urea and creatinine will be given to all patients/ visitors. one hour of an open interactive session with nephrologist will be conducted between 3 pm and 4pm. peritoneal dialysis and hemo dialysis posters explaining the procedure and the diffference in the types of dialysis will be explained. financial burden for the family and need for prevention of the kidney disease will be stressed on. senior citizens are given special attention and are encouraged to come for a free consultation with the nephrologist to learn about their kidney status and the measures they should take to avoid kidney injury.
