Hospital Kuala Lumpur World Kidney Day 2024 in conjunction with Nephrology Department Morning Assembly Meeting was held on 23rd February 2024. 

The hospital morning assembly meeting was organized by the Nephrology Department of Hospital Kuala Lumpur. 

In conjunction with World Kidney Day 2024 celebration, we promoted the main event of National World Kidney Day 2024 celebration that will be held on 9th of March 2024 in Taman Tasik Titiwangsa Kuala Lumpur. Nephrology Department, Hospital Kuala Lumpur will also participate in the event by having a booth with educational games and providing volunteers for health screening. 

On top of that, we also held an exhibition booth just outside the main auditorium where the monthly morning assembly was being held. 

The were posters exhibition of chronic kidney disease, causes, diagnosis, prevention and treatment put up by the Nephrologists in the Department. 

Renal pharmacists also participated and had their own booth with posters on medications and games for the public and healthcare workers. 

Patient education unit led by Dr Fahmi also participated in this event and held a booth on stop smoking. 

National Transplant Resource Centre also participated and held a booth or organ donation pledge. 

The peritoneal dialysis and haemodialysis units also participated in this event and put up displays of catheters used in haemodialysis, HD machine, peritoneal dialysis catheter used and exhibition on CAPD and APD usage and technique to perform these methods. 

This exhibition incorporated all the themes of this year World Kidney Day 2024 themes, namely the 4E.

Education to the public and healthcare workers.

Empowerment to the patients to take charge of themselves in controlling the progression of their disease and options of treatment; transplant, peritoneal dialysis and haemodialyis.

Equitable access, ensuring patients having access to medications to retard disease progression and renal replacement service available in the country.

Embracement: embracing scientific innovation for CKD innovation and using of latest technology such as virtual teleconsultation and electronic records in managing patients with CKD.
