On Thursday, the 13th of March 2014, Firm Health Ghana Foundation observed the world kidney day celebration on the theme “Chronic Kidney Disease and Aging” by organizing a public health education on the risk factors of kidney diseases and the need for screening for early detection, Renal test, Fasting Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, Body Mass Index (BMI) checks for the populace of Huni Valley, a farming community located within the Bogoso-Prestea District of the Western Region of Ghana. A total of 517 participants were screened, out of which 38 participants had glucose traces, 30 had protein traces and 4 participants had both glucose and protein traces in their urine. 5 participants (women) also had blood traces in their urine but this was mostly attributed to their menstrual cycle. . Participants with traces were made to see our medical personnel at the Tarkwa Government Hospital for further checks and treatment.
