World Kidney Day 2024

The Nephrology Society of Thailand has set up yearly “World Kidney Day” (WKD)  activities since 2005. We have encouraged hospitals covering  primary, secondary and tertiary levels to campaign kidney diseases awareness in their communities and make the multidisciplinary teams in chronic kidney disease (CKD) clinics for improvement of CKD care. We have contested and awarded the excellent WKD activities  and CKD clinics for every year and extensively announced their exemplary workings. We also hold the annual CKD academic meeting for medical personals to continuously strengthen their knowledges. In addition, we have hosted the 1-day WKD activity in the second week of March when this year is on March 10, 2024. We have contested the Thai motto and videos from various population conformed with  “Kidney Health for All: Advancing equitable access to care and optimal medication practice”.  The WKD was successfully arranged by the cooperation of our networks including the Kidney Foundation of Thailand, the Thai Transplant Society, The Nephrology Nurses Association of Thailand, the Kidney Friends Association of Thailand, the Thai Dietetic Association, the Less Salt, the Royal College of Physicians of Thailand,  the Bhumirajanagarindra Kidney Institute Hospital,  the Community Pharmacy Association (Thailand), and the National Health Security Office. The WKD activities were set-up  for general population, high-risk persons, and CKD patients, which compose of; –

    – Talks and meeting with the experts regarding how to prevent and slow the CKD, covering scheme for all Thai CKD patients, optimum use of drug and herbs, how to reduce salt intake, appropriate diet for CKD persons, and preparing of replacement therapy for kidney failure patients

    – The exhibition composes of demonstration of low-salt and healthy diets, medias for making awareness and reinforce knowledge, test of contaminated steroid in herb products

    – Screening of CKD with measurement of serum creatinine, GFR, and albuminuria

    – Measurements of blood pressure, body weight, body mass index, muscle mass, and fat mass

    – Create various social medias  and calculation risk score of CKD
