Kidneython is an annual running event aimed to spread awareness about the kidney diseases. Kidneython (Second edition) will be held on the occasion of World Kidney Day on 25th February 2018 in 10 Km, 5 Km and 2 Km running categories.
Unique feature of this event is participation of Kidney transplant recipients, kidney donors and relatives of cadaver organ donors along with regular runners. A banner competition on “Benefits of kidney transplant” will also be organized to sensitize public about importance of organ donation and transplant. The event is a brainchild of the two Nephrologists, Dr Sachin S Soni and Dr Shriganesh R Barnela supported by Dr Unmesh V Takalkar, CMD, United Ciigma Hospital, Aurangabad.
The inaugural event was organized on the occasion of World Kidney Day on 5th March 2017 in 10 Km, 5 Km and 2 Km running categories. More than 1200 participants were part of this event including 35 kidney transplant recipients and 40 kidney donors. A banner competition on “Organ Donation” was also organized to sensitize public about importance of organ donation.
