Kidneys age too , so elders must take extra caution

‘ With advancing age , kidney functions decline. Most of drugs are excreted through kidneys , so the elderly people need extra care while taking any drug. They also need to be careful in day today activities , they should avoid fasting and dehydration, ’ Said Dr Vijay Shrikhande , Senior Urologist and Transplant Surgeon while inaugurating Clinical Meeting and CME on World Kidney Day organized by Academy Of Medical Sciences , Nagpur In the continuing medical education ( CME ) program Dr. Viresh Gupta briefed about usage of drugs in kidney diseases and Dr. Vasudeo Ridhorkar deliberated on effects obstructive uropathy on kidneys. Dr Dinesh Rathi , Dr Satish Deshmane , Dr Sanjay Kolte , Dr Dhananjay Bokare , Dr Rajesh Soni and Dr Monali Sahu chaired the sessions . Interesting clinical cases were presented by Dr. Ashwinikumar Khandekar , Dr.Vivek Bhalerao and Dr. Suryashree Pande . Dr Sadashiv Bhole , Dr Ravi Deshmukh , Dr Pradeep Katakwar , Dr Sameer Chaubey , Dr Narendra Mohta and Dr Swanand Chaudhury were the chairpersons. Mrs Nilu Somani was the master of ceremony . Program was convened by Dr Prakash Khetan . Earlier president of AMS Dr Shivnarayan J Acharya welcomed the audience and Secretary Dr Pramod Gandhi proposed a vote of thanks.
