The event will focus on advocating the local municipal authorities on prioritizing the agenda on kidney care at primary level. Further, the event intends to educate the key stakeholders including policy makers on the need for community based awareness campaigns and enhancing competencies of primary health care workers in identification of risk factors and early detection of kidney failure. The event will be organized in a remote hilly region of Nepal in the foothills of world’s third highest mountain, Kanchenjunga. This forms a part of our campaign called KHDC, Kidney, Hypertension, Diabetes and Cardiovascular diseases. KHDC is starting a 4 year long project in the region from march 14th where we intend to screen all high risk population in the municipality for Hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease. The initial phase of the project involves developing competency of primary care providers in the municipality to diagnose and manage major non communicable diseases. We intend to start the project with a brief activity on March 13th with ‘World Kidney Day’.
