The American University of Beirut Medical Center’s (AUBMC) Division of Nephrology and Hypertension observed World Kidney Day, Thursday, March 13, 2014 for the second year in a row. To mark the occasion and with the goal of raising awareness about kidney health, encourage kidney donation and provide educational information on living with kidney disease, medical and nursing staff members from the Division and Hemodialysis Unit were present in the OPD lounge and on the second floor of the Pierre Abou-Khater Building (Bldg. 23), throughout the day. Display booths were set up, and flyers as well as water bottles were distributed to visitors, students and faculty members. All participants in the event wore T-shirts to mark the occasion and bring attention to the importance of the special day. In coordination with the hypertension lab, nurses conducted blood pressure screening to AUBMC visitors on the day. The Dietary Department provided healthy meals and recipes for all hemodialysis patients on Thursday and Friday.
