Welcome to the 2019 Miami Pediatric Nephrology Seminar! Our 46th Annual Conference takes place at a new venue, the Royal Palm South Beach Resort in beautiful Miami Beach from March 8-10, 2019. The Seminars are a unique international gathering of pediatric and internal medicine nephrologists, pediatricians, pediatric urologists, transplant surgeons, renal pathologists, nurses, nutritionists and allied health professionals from all over the United States and the world, sponsored by the University of Miami, Leonard Miller School of Medicine and Holtz Children’s Hospital at Jackson Memorial Hospital. This Seminar will offer an intensive 3 day program with ample time for interactions between registrants and faculty members. Recognized as unique and significant about our Seminars is the provision of a congenial and informal atmosphere, particularly appealing to minority registrants and trainees. The selection of topics, faculty and format are based on suggestions from past Seminar participants and current questions. This Seminar will review recent progress in the field of Pediatric Nephrology and the controversies involving as yet unresolved issues. The Seminar will include a total of 12 Sessions covering a wide range of topics:  Genetic/Developmental and Rare Disorders of the Kidney  New Frontiers in Pediatric Nephrology  Practical Nephrology for the Clinician  Clinico-Pathological Correlations (Interactive)  Recent Advances in Glomerular Disorders and Progressive CKD  What’s New in Hypertension?  Bone Disease, FGF23 and the Kidney  Growth and Nutrition in CKD (Workshop)  Research and Training Initiatives  Dialysis and Transplant Challenges.  Heroes in Pediatric Nephrology  Pediatric Critical Care Nephrology (Workshop at Holtz Children’s Hospital) The Seminar will feature 20 distinguished Guest Faculty and 16 Local Faculty who will provide expertise and cordial exchanges; including several panel discussions and Meet the Professor Luncheons. There are over 30 Trainees and Junior Faculty sponsored by ASPN, IPNA and NIH/NIDDK.
