The Tulane Hypertension and Renal Center of Excellence at Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, USA, will schedule a special seminar to celebrate 2021 World Kidney Day at 12:00 Noon (CST), March 11, 2021. The guest distinguished speaker will be Dr. John Cijiang He, M.D., Ph.D., a Professor of Medicine and Division Chief of Nephrology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, and an expert in diabetic kidney disease research. Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the most common kidney disease. Regardless of the current treatments, many patients progress to kidney failure. Therefore, it is critical for us to better understand the mechanisms mediating the progression of DKD. Single cell RNA-sequence is a technology which could help us to profile gene expression at the single cell level. Using this technique, we are able to identify genes and pathways altered in DKD for each kidney cell types. These studies will eventually help us to discover potential new therapies for DKD. Everyone is welcome to join via a link to the zoom meeting: https://tulane.zoom.us/j/93066117348 (Meeting ID: 930 6611 7348).
