The World Kidney Day 2025 event was organized by KHDC Nepal and B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in collaboration with Damak Municipality. The program was based on this year’s theme, “Are Your Kidneys OK? Detect Early, Protect Kidney Health,”  which emphasized the importance of early detection and prevention.

The program began with a powerful story shared by a chronic kidney disease (CKD) patient, highlighting her struggles, the impact of the disease on her life, and what could have helped her detect it earlier. Her journey served as a catalyst for discussion among 62 participants, including municipality chairpersons, social workers, teachers, healthcare providers, and female community health volunteers. Together, they explored ways they could contribute at their respective levels to prevent CKD in their communities.

The team of KHDC which included doctor, nurse, pharmacist also provided session on risk factors, complications, golden rules to prevent risk factors to further aware the members who committed to be the advocates in the fight against CKD. The members discussed and noted their commitments and signed the poster. ward chairpersons vowed to conduct regular awareness campaigns, teachers pledged to promote health checkups, and health center in-charges committed to integrating ABCDE testing into routine care for at-risk individuals and many more commitments inspired us to envision the future free of CKD.
