1. 100 patients with diabetes mellitus and/or hypertension and/or chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 1-5 (non-kidney replacement therapy; KRT) (that are high risk groups for CKD and KRT) are invited for World Kidney Day 2023 Activities at Pranangklao Hospital, Tertiary Hospital in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand.
2. All patients will join and rotate 16 educational stations as shown below.
2.1 Measure blood pressure.
2.2 Measure weight & height for calculation of body mass index (BMI).
2.3 Measure waist circumference for detection of abdominal obesity.
2.4 Collect urine for urinary albumin detection.
2.5 Take blood sampling for estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and fasting plasma glucose (FPG).
2.6 Meet Physicians & Nephrologists. (Diagnosis for DM, HT, abdominal obesity, underweight, normal, overweight, obesity, and renal function)
2.7 Meet Nutritionists. (Reduce salt, reduce disease, low salt diet)
2.8 Meet Pharmacists. (Nephrotoxic drugs e.g., NSAIDS, herbs)
2.9 Meet Thai Traditional Medicine Physicians and teams.
2.10 Meet Physical therapists (recommend exercise suitable for these patients)
2.11 Peritoneal dialysis; Choice of KRT (manual)
2.12 Peritoneal dialysis; Choice of KRT (automated PD)
2.13 Hemodialysis; Choice of KRT
2.14 Nutritional supplementations for CKD
2.15 Diets? for CKD (Reduce phosphate diet, low K, Phosphat diet)
2.16 Anemia in CKD (What?, How?, Treat?)
3. All patients will join and listen KRT activities by interviewing the patients with end stage kidney disease with 4 different modalities or KRT (Hemodialysis; HD, continuous peritoneal dialysis; CAPD, automated peritoneal dialysis; APD, and kidney transplantation)
4. All patients can enjoy WKD Quiz competition for numerous impressive souvenirs.
