On the occasion of this year’s World Kidney Day, Croatian doctor’s associations organised a press conference in order to spread awareness about Chronic Kidney Disease and to underline the importance of education and preventive programs that would include patients and health community. In addition to the public health part of the campaign, the Croatian Society of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation also organized humanitarian activities on the occasion of World Kidney Day. Moreover, HDNDT presented a monetary donation worth HRK 25,000 to the Hrabrica initiative, which brings together parents of children with kidney disease. HDNDT raised funds for the donation by publishing and selling the book “Duality”, authored by Dr. Branimir Vurušić, a prominent nephrologist who himself became a kidney patient, and who translated his experiences of dealing with the disease and treatment into a personal diary. The key message of the press conference was: “It’s time for a national plan for early detection of kidney disease!”
