Kids & Kidneys

Here at Northamptonshire Kidney Centre, Northampton General Hospital we are inviting year 10 biology students to our trust for a 3 hour workshop on all things kidney, transplant and donation. We have 8 tables with our amazing Nephrologists and Renal Nurses to lead the children through all aspects of kidney disease and how to care for it. We will of course be accompanied by our prosthetic pals and machines to ensure the experience is as real as possible. 

We have quiz’s, games and a bag of goodies to encourage them to discuss our session with family and friends. We have used most of the supporting resources to make boards and decorate walls.

Once the children depart, we will turn our attention to our colleagues and invite them to learn the dangers of incorrect medications and fluid overload, how to recognise it and how to contact us if they have concerns.

We are very much looking forward to sharing our knowledge with the children and hope to reduce the number of incidents across the trust.
