Are We OK?

“Are We OK?” is an outdoor activity organized in an elementary school yard with 2nd graders. In this acitivity our purpose was to draw attention to the kidney risks of excessive salt and sugar consumption, insufficient water intake and sedantary life style. We chchildiren to disseminate our message because they are the future of our nation. Presiden of Turkish Kidney Foundation Timur Erk was the MC and conducted the audience. He made a brief speech to state the importance of kidney health. He gathered the children under the “emergency assembly point” because we need emergency measures for public kidney health. He asked children for their reaction everytime he says an aspect of kidney health, such as “we dirnk water, are we OK?” and 2nd graders replies as “we are OK!” and so. We decorated the school yard with posters, flags and Granpda Kidney costumes. After the messages, children played street games, basketball and danced to promote a life full of physical exercise.
