Shanghai Society of Nephrology and Nephrology Branch of Shanghai Medical Doctor Association held a joint online conference on March 12th, 2020 to launch 7th Shanghai Kidney Week. At the conference, Professor Gengru-Jiang, President of Shanghai Society of Nephrology and Professor Nan-Chen, President of Nephrology Branch of Shanghai Medical Doctor Association, introduced the “7th Shanghai Kidney Week” campaign according to the themes of 15th World Kidney Day- “Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere- from Prevention to Detection and Equitable Access to Care”. During the following week, nephrologists from more than 20 major tertiary hospitals in shanghai will give free health consultations online to patients with kidney disease as patients are advised not to gather in group during the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus. In addition, medical professionals from Shanghai Society of Nephrology and Nephrology Branch of Shanghai Medical Doctor Association will give online lectures focusing on raise public attention to kidney health management including activities typically categorized by the following three definitions: (1) Primary Prevention, implies intervening before health effects occur in an effort to prevent the onset of kidney disease before the disease process begins (2) Secondary Prevention suggests preventive measures that lead to early diagnosis and prompt treatment of kidney disease to prevent more severe problems developing and (3) Tertiary Prevention indicates managing kidney disease after it is well established in order to control disease progression and the emergence of more severe complications .
