Protecting Kidneys, Protecting the Planet: WKD Community Walk & Tree Planting Initiative-Arusha,Tanzania

To commemorate World Kidney Day, nephrologists and healthcare workers organized a community awareness walk, free kidney health screening, and educational sessions at Mount Meru Regional Referral Hospital in Arusha, Tanzania. The event also included tree planting activities to highlight the link between environmental protection, clean water, and kidney health in line with the theme “Protecting People, Saving the Planet.”

The activity was led by Dr. Rose Mende, Prof. Kajiru Kilonzo, and Dr. Huda AlAkrabi, together with healthcare workers and community members, aiming to promote early detection of kidney disease, healthy lifestyles, and environmental responsibility.
