The significance of kidney disfunction and proteinuria as markers of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality is becomming more recognized. We are urgently looking for better markers of acute kidney injury and renal fuction. Creatinine clearance is a poor test to detect changes in GFR. I would agree totally with you that we need to educate the medical community, the public and polycemakers to make them aware of the significant treat that kidney failure represents for our global health.
