World Kidney Day 2011

As part of the Kidney Research UK’s 50th anniversary celebrations, the charity is once again throwing its support behind World Kidney Day and will be holding awareness events in towns and cities up and down the country – with particular emphasis on the importance of blood pressure testing.
Thursday 10 March.
All events start at 10.00am, unless otherwise stated
Nottingham: The Victoria Centre will play host to World Kidney Day activities as well as offer awareness information to all attending.
Milton Keynes: Kidney Research UK staff will be at the The Centre: MK with information and goodies for all who attend.
Swansea: Swansea Hospital Renal Unit will be offering patients and visitors information on the aims of World Kidney Day and how to keep your kidneys healthy.
Dover: Dunkirk Renal Satellite Unit at Buckland Hospital will be offering free blood pressure testing to visitors and patients, along with free information, guidance and a cake sale.
Margate: the Alan Squirrel Renal Unit at Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital will be offering free kidney health information and guidance to all patients, staff and visitors, along with refreshments stalls.
Canterbury: The Thomas Beckett Ward at the Kent & Canterbury Hospital will be providing information and guidance on a range of kidney health initiatives to all visitors and patients, as well as having home baked cakes for sale, on the day!
Canterbury: Staff from the Kent & Canterbury Hospital will be at Boots in Whitefriars shopping centre in Canterbury on World Kidney Day. They will be offering a range of information on how to keep your kidneys healthy as well as free blood pressure testing.
Gillingham: the Alan Squirrel Renal Unit (Medway) will be having a kidney health awareness day the Kent & Canterbury Hospital, Windmill Hill, Gillingham, along with free blood pressure testing, balloons, and a cake stall for all visitors, patients and staff.
Maidstone: Maidstone Hospital Renal Unit will be having a kidney health awareness day for all hospital visitors and patients.
Norwich: the Norwich Forum (outside BBC Norwich) will play host to World Kidney Day activities with 500 balloons being released at 1pm to signify one for every kidney patient in Norfolk. There will also be information on how to keep your kidneys healthy and also free blood pressure testing to all visitors on the day.
Peterborough: the office of Kidney Research UK at Nene Hall will play host to a balloon release and offer full information and guidance to a range of kidney health matters to staff & visitors.
Birmingham: Staff and volunteers from Kidney Research UK will be joined by members of the Kidney Patients’ Association in the foyer of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Together they will be holding a kidney health awareness stand, offering a full range of information and guidance on kidney health matters.
Shrewsbury: The Shrewsbury Renal Unit (SRU) at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital will be offering a full range of information and guidance on World Kidney Day along with a host of activities for all visitors and patients to the unit.
Kidderminster: Kidderminster Renal Unit at Kidderminster Hospital will be holding a kidney health awareness day and offering free information and guidance as well as a host of activities to all visitors and patients to the unit.
Walsall Dialysis Unit: Wallsall Dialysis Centre, Alumwell Close, Walsall, will be holding a kidney awareness day and offering free guidance and information to all that visit the unit on World Kidney Day.
Gateshead: Kidney Research UK staff will be at the Metro Centre in Gateshead offering free blood pressure testing and awareness information on a range of kidney health matters to all visitors.
Middlesbrough: James Cook University Hospital will be holding an awareness day for all visitors, patients and staff to the hospital. They will be offering free guidance and information about kidney health.
Southport: Kidney Research UK staff and volunteers will be at The Waterfront: Promenade, and will be offering free blood pressure testing as well as guidance and information to all visitors at the venue on World Kidney Day.
Ellesmere Port: Vue Cinema will be supporting World Kidney Day by offering visitors information and guidance on kidney health matters.
Hamilton: Regent Shopping Centre, Hamilton, Scotland, will be providing free blood pressure testing as well as information and guidance on a range on kidney health matters. (This Event will take place on Thursday 10th March and Friday 11th March)
Glasgow: Debenhams Glasgow on Argyle Street will be offering free information to all shoppers on World Kidney Day.
Dunfermline: Members from Fife Kidney Patients Association will be at Kingsgate Shopping Centre and offering shoppers free information and guidance on all kidney health matters.
