World Kidney Day 2009 was celebrated in 100 countries across the globe. This major success was made possible by the support of our 2009 sponsors. We have great ambitions for 2010. Our 2010 theme, diabetes, is one of major importance and we have high challenges to face!

Diabetes is the epidemic of the 21st century. Worldwide, over 240 million people suffer from diabetes and the figure is expected to reach 380 million by 2025. Many ignore that diabetes is so inter-related with kidney diseases. Indeed, a third of people suffering from diabetes are affected by diabetic nephropathy.

We have a large awareness campaign to run to promote preventive behaviours, fight obesity, and encourage early screening of people with diabetes and hypertension. We need the means to do so. We need to produce brochures, viral videos, posters and other campaign material, to help us reach our mission and support the efforts of all of ours WKD supporters worldwide.
