Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a persistent and irreversible damage to the kidneys that is incurable and affects more than 1 in 10 people worldwide.
World Kidney Day (WKD) is the global awareness campaign aimed at raising awareness of the importance of our kidneys. Celebrated every year on the second Thursday of March, World Kidney Day is the biggest event focused on awareness, prevention and healthy lifestyle to promote kidney health around the world.
On March 8, 2018 we dedicate our campaign to women. More than 195 million women worldwide are affected by Chronic Kidney Disease and 600,000 die each year. To see these numbers decrease, this year will promote affordable and equitable access to health education, healthcare and prevention of kidney diseases for all women and girls in the world.
Awareness raising campaigns, like ours, need to expand and increase their reach to be effective in fulfilling our mission. Today our organic reach is 150 million people but, if you think that there are 7.4 billion people in the world, this is still only a drop in the ocean. World Kidney Day can and wants to do more and help more people prevent kidney disease. That’s why we need YOUR HELP.
